All Colfax parents, grandparents and neighbors are encouraged to volunteer at our school! There are so many different opportunities, both big and small, requiring a variety of skill sets. There's something for everyone. Our activities are 100% volunteer run and we need your help to keep it going!
To volunteer in the classroom, library or garden during the school day, make sure you visit the Volunteers page on this website to complete your volunteer clearance with LAUSD at the beginning of each school year.
Our Room Parent Program, run by our PTA, is open to all. At the beginning of each school year, a interest form will be published and between 1-4 room parents will be selected for each class. Room Parents provide support to teachers, connect classroom parents and provide fun class parties and experiences for our students. No experience is necessary to apply to be a room parent, just a willingness to help!
PACE, which stands for Parents Association Colfax Elementary, is the fundraising engine of Colfax. Last year we spent over $500,000 (yes, that's half a million dollars!!) providing enrichment staff & programming for Colfax students. By virtue of being a parent/grandparent of a Colfax student, you are automatically a member of PACE - welcome! PACE puts on a full slate of fundraising events and programs throughout the school year. A registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, all donations to PACE are tax-deductlble.
The main role of the Colfax PTA is to build strong working relationships among our parents, teachers and school staff in order to provide services and programs in support of students. Dues are required to be considered a member. Here at Colfax, dues are $12, part of which goes to the national organization to help with legislation and advocacy and part of which we get to keep for our school related programs.
